Woolworths Supermarket Refurbishments
Inten has now undertaken 100 supermarket refurbishments for Woolworths. In each case the works were conducted without affecting trading of the supermarket and the stores were left in a safe presentable condition for trade each day.
Woolworths Wagga Wagga North
The project involved the full internal strip out and refurbishment of the dilapidated Woolworths Wagga North site. The existing three level building last housed twenty specialty shops, a major chain, a cafeteria and the original Woolworths Supermarket. After the refurbishment a new lettable commercial space was created on the first floor, with the entire ground floor becoming a new Woolworths store, the basement is currently used as storage space. The construction of a new dock, all new food preparation areas, coolrooms and the infill concrete slab of the first floor allowed the expansion of the existing Woolworths supermarket footprint. Two new supermarket entries were constructed, along with a new disabled pedestrian ramp, glazed airlock and awning leading out to the rear car park. The entire front fa?ade of the building has been cement rendered then painted and new signage has been installed. The construction of a new concrete stair access and provision for a future pedestrian lift allows access to the first floor tenancy.
The infill slab constructed on the first floor was innovative as it is suspended from the roof structure by steel hangers, rather than being supported by conventional columns. This allowed the owner to expand the supermarket without columns intruding onto the trading floor. The project was completed on time and under budget, despite the store remaining trading throughout the ten month construction period with little impact on the stores sales.
Woolworths Coffs Harbour
This project involved a complete internal and external refurbishment of the existing Woolworths Store running concurrently over 19 weeks. Internally the trading floor was expanded into the stock area and there was a complete re-lay of all fixtures and refrigeration cabinets. Externally the entire "pizza hut" style awning structure was removed from two sides of the building and a new cantilevered awning and parapet constructed with an Alucobond finish. The store remained trading for the duration and its operation was unaffected by the internal and external works.

Woolworths Balmain – Facade Upgrade
The project involved an external cosmetic upgrade for the aging Woolworths Supermarket in Balmain. The works included the construction and installation of a commercial cladding system, re-roofing the entire store, construction of new entrance feature involving large glazed sections and construction of new external awning. The commercial cladding system was a first for both supplier and installer having never been used in such an application.
